Half Moon Cay is an absolutely beautiful private island owned by the Carnival Cruise organization. It is a half moon shaped warm ocean water bay with a soft sandy beach making it an amazingly wonderful Caribbean escape.

Swimming in the warm turquoise ocean water (see photos) is wonderful. The ocean is sallow and calm and you can wade out and just blissfully float around.

Travel Tip - How to avoid the crowds... Beach lounge chairs are free. By walking a short ways down the beach you can find chairs shaded by trees. Walk a little further and you can escape most the crowds and enjoy a sparely populated beach and ocean at Half Moon Cay.

The food pavilion serving soft drinks, hamburgers, hot dogs, selected salads, and drinks is located behind the pirate ship bar on the beach (see photo). The Lobster Shack serves up grilled lobster and lobster rolls at affordable prices.

Alcoholic drinks are made at the bars on the beach. It is pretty nice sitting on this beautiful beach with drink in hand... keep it to one or two because the price is a little steep.

For a fee, fun excursions on Half Moon Cay can be reserved on the cruise ship include horseback riding, snorkeling, stingray adventure, biking, lagoon tour, and guided nature walk. Small and large beach cabanas on the beach (see photo) can be rented. The larger ones include a hot tub.
